Starter Ty Blach got subbed into the Giants' rotation on Tuesday to start for the injured Madison Bumgarner. To pitch, presumably, against the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw. But you see, Blach does more than just pitch well against Kershaw, he also owns the three-time Cy Young Award winner at the plate. Before Tuesday, his only two hits of his career were off the lefty. Observe below from October 2016:
So, of course, in his first at-bat against Kershaw on Tuesday, Blach ripped a double into the gap. Status: 3-for-4 career off the best pitcher in baseball. That deserves a little head nod.
Blach grounded out in his second at-bat and left the game after giving up just two runs and five hits over five innings. But most importantly, Ty Blach is batting .600 off of Clayton Kershaw while other (supposed) big-named batters can't buy a hit off him. Ty Blach owns Clayton Kershaw.
