Gerrit Cole and Francisco Cervelli tried to field the same bunt, and that's where it all went wrong

Marlins starter Tom Koehler is a lifetime .089 hitter in the Major Leagues. He's also a pitcher. So, when he came to the plate with a runner on second and no one out during Friday's 6-5 win over the Pirates, it was only natural to expect that a bunt was coming. Miami gets the runner over, Koehler avoids a potential Bartolo situation, everybody wins.
And when Koehler squared around, Gerrit Cole and Francisco Cervelli were both ready to pounce ... maybe, uh, too ready:
A lot to unpack here. That was a fair ball, and Cole was so frustrated with himself that he forgot to throw the ball to first to get the out. Luckily, though, he was bailed out: Koehler was called out for batter's interference after bumping Cervelli as he left the batter's box. You know, just like they drew it up.
