Enrique Hernandez cracked a huge smile after a long slide into the plate in Game 163 because he has fun
With two outs, Kiké Hernández would be off with any contact made by Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler in Monday's NL West tiebreaker against the Rockies in Los Angeles. The Dodgers were up, 4-0, in the sixth, thanks to a stellar outing from the 24-year-old Buehler and homers from Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy, and Buehler was at the plate looking to help his own cause.
And he did just that, lofting a short fly ball to right-center that landed in the grass and sent Hernandez toward the plate, where he'd score to give the Dodgers a 5-0 lead. The whole sequence was amusing, however, thanks to Hernandez's extended slide home and his reaction afterward:
The man known for the banana costumes, shirtless batting-practice sessions and all-around amusing antics on the diamond? Yeah, he has fun.
