Edwin Jackson is firmly on the edge of baseball history with his 14th (!) different organization

On Saturday, the Blue Jays announced that they have acquired veteran right-hander Edwin Jackson from the A's, with whom Jackson had been in Triple-A Las Vegas:

Jackson seemed destined to pitch for the A's sometime soon, as the club had recently brought him back on a Minor League deal after his stint in Oakland last year -- the 13th team he's pitched for in his career, a feat which tied him for the all-time record with Octavio Dotel.

This means, of course, that should Jackson suit up for the Jays this season (which is now a strong possibility, given Saturday's news), they'd be the 14th franchise he's pitched for. That'd be history, and a particularly quirky statistic that would only apply to him.

And if you're keeping score of Jackson's travels at home, which you should be since it's such a wild thing, he can now add the Blue Jays to a list that includes (*deep breath*) the A's, Nationals, Orioles, Padres, Marlins, Braves, Cubs, Cardinals, White Sox, D-backs, Tigers, Rays, and Dodgers.

Phew.
