The Red Sox are the 13th team ever to post MLB's best record and then win the World Series

The Red Sox posted a whopping 108 victories in the regular season, tied for the ninth-highest win total in MLB history. Their right fielder may well win AL MVP. Their designated hitter nearly won the Triple Crown. They were the team of the 2018 -- and now, after dispatching the Dodgers in five games, they've managed to join one of baseball's most exclusive clubs: best regular-season record and World Series champion:
As you can see in the graphic above, Boston's joined some awesome company. The best regular-season teams that won it all are a who's who of MLB history, from the 1998 Yankees (114-48) to the the '86 Mets and '75 Big Red Machine (108-54). Of course, this isn't exactly new for New England. Two of the other 12 teams on the list? The 2007 and 2013 Red Sox.
