Honoring Jackie Robinson in a Dodgers jersey for the first time felt special for Curtis Granderson

The legacy of Jackie Robinson cannot be overstated. The Brooklyn Dodgers star broke baseball's color barrier, setting in place an era of tremendous change that has helped lead the game to where it is today. His influence is a big motivating factor for veteran outfielder Curtis Granderson, who wears special themed spikes for Jackie Robinson Day each season.
On Friday, the Dodgers acquired Granderson in a trade from the Mets. Joining Los Angeles provided Granderson with an opportunity he hadn't yet had in his 14-year career: honoring Robinson in Dodger blue. Needless to say, this was a big deal for him:
Wearing those socks, Granderson crushed a go-ahead grand slam (his first with the Dodgers) in their 6-5 win over the Pirates on Monday night, just his third game with the club. Here are those high socks in action:
