The Cubs frantically prepared for a play at the plate that never actually happened

The Cubs and Brewers are locked in a battle atop the NL Central, Chicago just two games up on Milwaukee entering their showdown at Wrigley Field on Monday night. With just a few weeks to go in the regular season and a division title on the line, every game -- every run -- matters.
So, when Erik Kratz doubled into the right-field corner in the sixth inning with the score tied at 2, the Cubs' defense was desperate to make sure Mike Moustakas didn't score from first. Ben Zobrist frantically dug the ball out of the corner. Daniel Murphy sprinted over to the foul line to take the relay throw, spun toward home plate and fired. Willson Contreras fielded the ball and immediately spun to make the tag.
It was textbook baseball, the kind of extended suspense that only a pennant race can provide. The only problem? Moustakas had actually been held up at third:
