In addition to being rock stars, Billy Corgan and Tom Morello are diehard Cubs fans

There are many, many Cubs fans. There are many, many Cubs celebrity fans. But there are few Cubs fans, celebrity or not, that love the team as much as Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. And they both just so happen to be rock stars, so of course they were both on hand to take in the World Series' grand return to Wrigley for Game 3 on Friday night.
As you can hear in the interview above, Corgan's been a Cubs fanatic since he was a kid in the mid-'70s, coming to the Friendly Confines to watch stars like Andre Dawson, Ryne Sandberg, Rick Sutcliffe and Billy Williams. Still, though, he says the 2016 version is special -- and not just for the whole "snapping a 71-year World Series drought" thing:
We're so proud of our team. The coolest thing is not only that we're in the World Series, but we're in the World Series with the kind of team that we very much identify with as Chicagoans. The way they play and the way they support each other is pretty much the way that Chicagoans interrelate, so we have a team that represents the city.
Morello's also been cheering for the Cubs since childhood, but he decided to see Corgan's fandom and raise him one more: Apparently, he has a provision in his will stipulating that at least part of his remains will be scattered at Wrigley:
As for his thoughts on Theo Epstein? Unsurprisingly, he was all in: "Theo Epstein is on the brink of being perhaps the greatest baseball person in the history of baseball people."
Despite all that star power, the Cubs fell just short in Game 3, losing 1-0. They'll look to avenge their rock star fan base in Game 4 on Saturday night ((7:30 p.m. ET air time | 8 ET game time on FOX).
