CPBL legend Chang Tai-Shan went out in style with a grand slam in his final at-bat
Since 1996, when he was named CPBL Rookie of the Year, Chang Tai-Shan has been a star. In 2010, he became the first player in the history of the league to drive in 1,000 runs over a career, and he holds the league record in career home runs (289) and hits (2,134).
As a 40-year-old, he signed on with the Adelaide Bite of the ABL for a last hurrah. On Saturday, Chang came to the plate for what is likely to be his final professional at-bat in the eighth inning with his team leading the Sydney Blue Sox, 4-1, in the last game of the season. He ended his career in the most fitting way possible:
It's not often that a player's career ends on a great performance, but Chang, like Ted Williams before him, ended his career on the highest of notes: With a home run in his final at bat.
