Corey Kluber showed off his improvisational skills to record an out at first base

Improvisation is an important skill to have, and not just if you're a jazz musician tasked with performing a solo. Improvisation allows a teacher to respond to an unexpected question from a student, a chef to cook a dish without a key ingredient or a baseball player to make a play when the ball takes a funny hop.
During the fourth inning of Sunday's game against the Royals, Indians pitcher Corey Kluber showed off his improvisational skills when Eric Hosmer's ground ball didn't enter his glove as smoothly as expected.

Faced with this new development, Kluber had to improvise: Abandoning his flip to first in favor of tagging the base himself. In this case, then, Kluber's ability to improvise helped him and the Indians record an out.
