Carlos Gómez (or "El Final," as he'll be known for Players' Weekend) has fun. On the diamond, he plays with passion and enthusiasm -- and isn't afraid to show it.
Whether swinging so hard he falls down, snapping his bat over his knee after a strikeout, demolishing dugout equipment (and apologizing to it afterward) and so on, he's a man of emotion.
His latest display came in teh Rays' 4-3 win over the Royals on Thursday at Tropicana Field, after he successfully caught a line drive off the bat of Rosell Herrera in the fourth inning. He made the play, but it involved both losing his cap and abruptly moving his glove in front of his face -- but it was the post-catch pose and stylish throw back to the infield that makes this one stand out:
Just another day at the office for Gomez.
