Carlos Gómez is a man of great passion, so naturally he pulled off one of the most impressive defensive plays in Thursday's American League Division Series opening game between the Blue Jays and the Rangers at Globe Life Park.
Manning left field, Gomez robbed Edwin Encarnación of an RBI and, probably, an extra-base hit with a maximum-effort catch that brought him literally face-to-face with the scoreboard just beyond the warning track. As seen atop this post, it was a pretty slick play made with the dedication necessary to spear a line drive hit as hard as Encarnacion's.

Considering the other daring feats Gomez has performed on the diamond over the years, though, this is hardly surprising -- the man has a penchant for the dramatic. Unfortunately for Gomez, the Blue Jays won Game 1, 10-1.
Tune in for Game 2 on TBS/SNET at 1 p.m. ET on Friday.
