We have no idea how to describe just what happened to the Brewers' defense on this play

Basically everything about baseball is difficult: Trying to hit a swerving, tiny sphere with a wooden stick, trying to catch that swerving, tiny sphere in a big leather hand, trying to throw that swerving, tiny sphere great distances with pinpoint accuracy. That Major League ballplayers often make these things seem routine is a testament to just how great they are.
Sometimes, though, baseball is just really, really hard -- no matter how good you are. Things are just off by a hair, and try as you might, the game gets the better of you. On a related note, here's how the Brewers attempted to field a Phil Gosselin blooper into shallow center during Saturday's 15-6 win over the D-backs:
For those keeping score at him, the ball 1) lands between three separate defenders, who 2) collide with each other before throwing the ball in to second base, where 3) Gosselin's slide manages to send the ball flying back toward the outfield for one of the weirdest doubles in recent memory. Again, baseball is hard.
