Brandon Phillips was given a thunderous ovation in his return to Cincinnati

From 2006-16, Brandon Phillips was as much a Cincinnati institution as pork and Cincinnati chili. But with the team rebuilding, the keystone constant was traded to the Braves in the offseason. On Friday, he made his return to the city. Fittingly, it was against Bronson Arroyo -- Phillips' teammate for seven of those years.

So, when Phillips stepped to the plate, he received a thunderous ovation from the Cincinnati crowd. With multiple tips of the cap, including a nod to Arroyo, Phillips finally stepped in.

Unfortunately for Phillips, it wasn't a storybook ending, as he would strike out on three pitches. Of course, given that he was wearing a different team's uniform, I don't think the fans are too upset.
