The Red Sox-Boston College game gave us our first great fan catch of the season

There will no doubt be many fan catches in 2016; there will be catches made in popcorn, catches made in beer and catches made in hats. The Fan Catch season, as they say, is a marathon.
Still, there can only be one first fan catch, and it's an important moment -- a brief glimmer of light in celebration of baseball and the average citizens who dare to catch them. The Red Sox's 6-0 win over Boston College on Monday provided this year's edition, and thankfully it didn't disappoint, making up in pure non-chalance what it loses in degree of difficulty:
