Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey spent his birthday giving back to his community
Dalton Pompey grew up next door to Toronto in the city of Mississauga. When the baseball star graduated from high school in 2010, he was drafted by the Major League team just up the road, the Blue Jays. Now, Pompey has played parts of three seasons with his hometown team. When he turned 24 years old on Sunday, he decided to do something to give back to his community:
According to Pompey's caption:
"Instead of spending a ton of money having a huge birthday party at a restaurant or bar. I decided to take some of that money, buy some Tim [Horton's gift] cards and walk around Toronto handing them out to the less fortunate. I have a lot to be thankful for in my life and there's no better way for me to thank God for blessing me than trying to make someone else's day."
There are a lot of wonderful ways to spend a birthday, but making other people smile is an undeniably great one. Happy belated birthday, Dalton.
