The Orioles promoted catcher Austin Wynnson Sunday. He told Norfolk Tides manager Ron Johnson it was a "dream come true." And despite a rainout for the O's that same day, it was actually a blessing in disguise. According to MLB.com's Britt Ghiroli, it gave his family a chance to travel to the East Coast to watch him in action on Tuesday. And his mom's reaction to his first career hit was the cutest thing you will see all day.
In the top of the second during the Orioles-Mets game, on a 1-1 pitch, the 27-year-old smacked a line drive to left field. The camera quickly found his mom, who waved and blew him a kiss from the stands:

The dugout quickly grabbed on to the ball for safekeeping.
That is one proud mama.
"She blew me a kiss? Oh my gosh," Wynns told Ghiroli. "That's my mom. It was just all smiles. I was like, 'Wow.' Just took a deep breath and took it in and was like 'Wow.' Words can't even describe it. It was just a weight off my shoulders too. It was incredible."
Wynns isn't alone among Orioles rookie catchers. He joins Chance Sisco in newbies behind the plate, marking the first Baltimore roster (since they started tracking in 2003) with two rookie backstops. He's also not the only Oriole to hail from sunny San Diego.

"The first step, Jones took me out there too," Wynn said. "He was like 'Take it in, kid.' I was like, 'Yeah. I'm taking it in.'"
