Andrew McCutchen knows playing right field for the Pirates comes with an impressive legacy
The Pirates announced on Sunday that they are shuffling their outfield for the 2017 season with, most notably, Andrew McCutchen moving over to man right field at PNC Park. It'll be an adjustment: McCutchen has never played right field. He's played 1,175 games in center field and five as a designated hitter … and that's it.
But don't worry. He has some inspiration:
Some 40 years before Cutch takes over in the corner, Roberto Clemente won an MVP Award -- and became one of the greatest players, ever -- while playing right field the Pirates. Now, McCutchen will try to live up to that legacy.
Oh, and another MVP Award-winning right fielder for the Pirates? Only the Cobra himself, Dave Parker:
Yeah, Cutch is now part of some pretty good company.
