Andrew McCutchen checked to see if his bat had a hole in it after striking out

There's no shame in striking out against Jacob deGrom -- the Mets ace entered his start against the Giants on Thursday with 204 K's in 168 innings this season.
Still, after whiffing on a changeup in the third inning, Andrew McCutchen was suspicious. How could he have missed that pitch? Clearly something was amiss. Clearly there had to be a hole in his bat:

Alas, Cutch finished the day 0-for-4 with three strikeouts, so it looks like he never did get to the bottom of things. We can only assume he'll have a new, entirely whole bat tomorrow.
