Allen Iverson calls his shot, says Bryce Harper's jersey will be retired by the Phillies

On Saturday, the Phillies officially ushered in a new era when Bryce Harper was introduced as the newest member of the organization. Harper will wear No. 3 with the Phillies, a change from the "34" he wore on his back with the Nationals.

During Saturday's press conference, Harper explained that he couldn't take No. 34 as that belonged to the late Roy Halladay, so he opted for "3" instead.

Of course, that number holds a special place in Philly sports lore, as longtime Sixers guard Allen Iverson was enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. Clearly excited for what the Harper news will do for the region, Iverson called his shot on Twitter:

To reiterate the claim above, Iverson is going on record as predicting that Harper's No. 3 jersey will be retired by the Phillies, prior to the first year of the 13-year, $330 million deal he just signed with the club this week.

Iverson was never short on confidence on the basketball court, so this checks out.
