Adam Ottavino has unreal April numbers thanks to some dazzling pitches

The Rockies made a big move in the offseason by signing All-Star closer Wade Davis to a three-year contract, and early on, he's made them look good. Davis has a 2.45 ERA and 0.818 WHIP in eight games, while also tying the Mets' Jeurys Familia for the National League lead with 7 saves.
However, Davis has not been the true relief ace of the Rockies bullpen in April. That title would have to go to Adam Ottavino, who entered Monday with pure video game numbers:

It's always a good sign when the Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP) figure is somehow below zero. In 9 2/3 innings, Ottavino had allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out 20.
Fanning 20 batters in under 10 innings might seem preposterous for anyone not namedMax Scherzer, but it helps when you have a slider that does this:

Ottavino was back at it on Monday, when he turned loose another zooming slider against the Pirates' Josh Bell: 

Bell went down swinging and Ottavino notched another perfect inning in the books during the Rockies' 6-2 victory. For those keeping score at home, Ottavino lowered his ERA to 0.84, his WHIP to 0.28 and, somehow, his FIP to -0.22.
