Ronald Acuna Jr. slid into the infield grass on accident, then crushed a homer from his knee later in the game

In 1998, the Goo Goo Dolls released "Slide" as the lead single to their studio album Dizzy Up the Girl. In the song, which would go on to be one of the band's biggest hits, vocalist John Rzeznik asks repeatedly, "So why don't you slide?"
The song does not have any known origins in baseball, but it does obviously share the term "slide," which is used in the game's vernacular to describe a player's motion as he moves toward a base. Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr., who was less than one year old when the Goo Goo Dolls unleashed that song on the masses, attempted a unique version of "sliding" in the second inning of Tuesday's game with the D-backs.
Shout-out to the entire Braves dugout for laughing with Acuna -- not at him, mind you -- after that unique spin on something we take for granted so often in this game.
As for next time, Ronald ... why don't you slide?
His next trip to the plate, Acuna demonstrated that you don't always have to slide ... sometimes you can just crush home runs from your knees. Because why not?
