Nationals ace Max Scherzer came out blazing in the All-Star Game presented by Mastercard on Tuesday night, throwing two of the hardest pitches he's thrown all season in a scoreless first inning.
He had a tougher time in the second inning, however, when Yankees slugger Aaron Judgecrushed a solo homer to deep left field ... one that was caught by Judge's teammate, Luis Severino, who was warming in the American League bullpen.
Brewers All-Star Jesús Aguilar had a particularly sweet vantage point for Judge's homer. Perched in the National League dugout, he had his phone out recording up until the moment the ball exploded into the air:
Over in the AL dugout, Justin Verlander actually predicted Judge's homer before it happened ...
And after it did, Gleyber Torres, another of Judge's All-Star teammates, was pretty excited about it:
Good times in D.C.!
Judge's homer set the tone for what would be a homer-filled All-Star Game won by the AL, 8-6, in 10 innings.
