Aaron Hicks has a very, very strong arm. Just last year, he set a Statcast record with a 105.5-mph throw to home plate that made 250 feet of diamond look like a sandlot:
But alas, physics comes for even the best of us, and during the Yankees' 11-7 win over the Royals on Thursday night, Hicks learned a very valuable lesson: It's really hard to throw foam.
Not once, not twice, but three times Hicks tried to toss a foam claw back up to a Royals fan over the right-field fence, and three times he was unsuccessful. On the brink of defeat, he finally had an epiphany: If you can't throw it over the wall, you can still jump over.
Get 'em next time, Aaron.
