During the Yankees game against the Mariners Tuesday night, Aaron Hicks hit a dinger that was cool because of where it landed. After his fifth-inning shot cleared the fence, it took a bounce and lodged perfectly between the two back slabs of the bullpen bench, where it remained:
The carpenters who designed these benches clearly intended their construction as a challenge to hitters like Hicks. With a gap of the perfect size for a baseball to stick in it, they clearly dreamed of a world where this home run happened. Thanks to Hicks, we now live in that world.
