Injuries & Moves: Pérez, Bart head to IL; Hayes returns

May 28: LHP , C to IL; 3B activated off IL; C selected from Triple-A Indianapolis
Pérez (left groin strain) and Bart (left thumb injury) both exited Sunday's game with injuries and head to the injured list, with their placements on the IL retroactive to May 27.

Hayes, who was dealing with lower back inflammation, was hitting .240 with a homer and 11 RBIs over 129 at-bats when he went on the IL on May 11.

The 27-year-old Koch went 9-for-54 (.167) with two doubles, one home run and five RBIs in 17 games this season with Triple-A Indianapolis before being added to the Major League taxi squad on May 22.

RHP (forearm; No. 3 on Pirates' Top 30 prospects list)

Chandler was removed from his Double-A start on May 17 after walking five of his seven batters faced, and he was placed on the 7-day injured list as a precaution. He threw a side session on May 24, and assuming all goes well, he will progress to games soon. (Last updated: May 25)

Oviedo has started a throwing program at the Pirates' Florida complex as of the week of May 20 now that he's crossed the six-month mark from his surgery. He is throwing to 45 feet, and he should progress to 60 feet soon. (Last updated: May 25)

Moreta underwent UCL reconstruction surgery in March, confirming fears that he will not pitch in 2024.
