June 2: RHP placed on 15-day IL due to right shoulder inflammation
Sánchez was placed on the 15-day IL on Sunday after his velocity was significantly down in his start on Friday against the Rangers and was removed after just 53 pitches. Sánchez didn't pitch in the big leagues from 2021-23 because of a pair of shoulder surgeries. The Marlins have off-days on Monday and Thursday, so an immediate rotation replacement is not yet needed. In a corresponding move, RHP Emmanuel Ramirez was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville. Ramirez has posted a 1.59 ERA over 5 2/3 innings in the Majors this season.

June 1: C placed on bereavement list; C recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville
The minimum period of placement on the bereavement list is three consecutive days. This is Pereda's second stint with the Marlins this year -- he went hitless in five at-bats spanning three games in April.

10-day/15-day injured list

RHP (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: TBD
After experiencing a big dip in velocity in his May 30 start vs. Texas, Sánchez was placed on the IL on June 2. The big righty has had a history of major shoulder problems, including two surgeries that caused him to miss three big league seasons from 2021-23. (Last updated: June 2)

RHP (right shoulder impingement)
Expected return: Late June
Cabrera, who is rehabbing in Jupiter, Fla., is asymptomatic while throwing and continues to build up in his program. He previously had been on no-throw status for five to seven days. The club had evaluated Cabrera after he threw a bullpen session in Jupiter on May 17.

Cabrera progressed to playing catch on May 13 after he received an injection on May 8 that relieved the pain. He began the season on the injured list with the same diagnosis and also missed a month of the 2023 season with it. (Last updated: May 31)

RHP (left hamstring strain)
Expected return: June
Hoeing threw a bullpen in Jupiter, Fla., on May 30. He is working to build more strength in his legs and repeat a bullpen early next week. Hoeing felt mild tightness after beginning his rehab assignment with two innings on May 21 with Triple-A Jacksonville. He said he first tweaked his hamstring during Spring Training but pitched through it. (Last updated: May 31)

OF (left hamstring strain)
Expected return: June
García was scheduled to play nine innings in right field for Triple-A Jacksonville on May 31 after starting back-to-back games from May 28-29. He hasn’t appeared in a MLB game since April 27 after feeling discomfort a few days earlier. This marks the third straight season García has landed on the IL with a left hamstring strain. OF
Expected return: TBD
Miami's No. 5 prospect was placed on the Minor League seven-day injured list on May 20 with an undisclosed injury, but he previously missed time with an adductor strain. Head appeared in three games for Single-A Jupiter after joining the Marlins' organization in the Luis Arraez trade. (Last updated: May 24)

60-day injured list

RHP (neck spasms)
Expected return: June
Chargois has tossed four consecutive scoreless one-inning outings on rehab assignment for Triple-A Jacksonville. In his most recent appearance on May 30, he threw 20 pitches. Chargois also appeared in a Florida Complex League intrasquad game. On April 26, Chargois had a setback and underwent subsequent tests on his neck.

Chargois first experienced the neck spasms on Feb. 23, and he saw his velocity max out at 92.6 mph -- much lower than his average fastball velo of 96.2 mph in 2023 -- during his Grapefruit League debut on March 12. (Last updated: May 31)

RHP (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Alcantara, who has been playing catch off and on, is rehabbing with the team in Miami. He initially felt the discomfort on the 94th and final pitch of his Sept. 3 start against the Nationals and was diagnosed with a right forearm flexor strain. An MRI later revealed a right UCL sprain. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Sept. 21, but shut himself down after experiencing forearm tightness. (Last updated: May 31)

RHP (right UCL tear)
Expected return:
2025
Pérez, who opened the season on the injured list (retroactive to March 25), is rehabbing in Miami. Pérez had Tommy John surgery on April 8 after experiencing soreness in his bullpen session on April 2. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 4.

Pérez's recurring nail issue had forced him to exit for precautionary reasons after just 14 pitches on March 13 -- but the bigger issue came the following morning when he reported feeling soreness in his right elbow. (Last updated: May 31)

LHP (left elbow ulnar neuritis)
Expected return: Post-All-Star break
Simpson, who underwent surgery for left elbow ulnar neuritis on April 23, is rehabbing in Jupiter, Fla. He is expected back after the All-Star break, according to manager Skip Schumaker.

Simpson had tossed one inning for Single-A Jupiter on April 6 after previously completing one inning and 25 pitches in an extended spring game on April 2 before experiencing a setback. Simpson, who opened the season on the injured list (retroactive to March 25), didn't pitch in a Grapefruit League game after his Feb. 27 outing because he began to feel discomfort. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 20. (Last updated: May 31)
