Malcolm Moore…Son of Tracy and Billy Moore…Has one brother, Wilson…Was a 2022 graduate of C.K. McClatchy High School in Sacramento, Calif., a school that also counts former Major Leaguers Larry Bowa, Dion James, Rowland Office, Nick Johnson and Vance Worley among its alumni…Posted a .476 batting average with 27 HR, 39 2B, 147 RBI, and 136 R over his four-year high school career…A two-time Gatorade Player of the Year (2021-22), Moore guided the Lions to a CIF Sac-Joaquin Section final appearance and NorCal semifinal berth in 2022…Was tabbed as the top-ranked catcher in the nation (Perfect Game), as well as the No. 27 position player overall coming out of high school...Appeared in six games in 2023 for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team…Grew up idolizing former San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey…His introduction to playing catcher came at age 11, when he volunteered to put on a chest protector while his travel team’s primary catcher was away on a family vacation.

Batted .209 (19-for-91) with three home runs, six doubles, 12 RBI and three stolen bases over 25 games with High-A Hickory in his professional debut…In a limited sample size for the Crawdads, the left-handed batter posted a higher batting average against left-handed pitching (.235 BA vs. LHP; .203 BA vs. RHP) but displayed more prodigious power against right-handers (.392 SLG vs. RHP; .294 SLG vs. LHP)…Opened his career by going 1-for-his-first-19 (.053) and batted .135 (7-for-52) with one HR in first 15 games before slashing .308/.391/.564/.955 (12-for-39) with two HR, four 2B, nine RBI and five BB/seven SO in final 10 games (beginning 8/28)…Made his pro debut on 8/6 vs. ABD, going 0-for-3 with two runs, a stolen base and a hit by pitch…Collected his first pro hit the following day on 8/7 – an RBI double to right-centerfield…Clubbed his first pro home run in his 10th game on 8/20 vs. BG – a solo shot to straight-away right field that accounted for the Crawdads’ lone run in a 3-1 defeat…Made 13 starts behind the plate, throwing out four of 31 (12.9%) attempted base stealers…Finished the season rated among the top prospects in the Texas organization by MLB Pipeline (No. 5) and Baseball America (No. 6).
