Full name is Ryan David Weathers...Is the son of former Major Leaguer David Weathers, who played 19 Major League seasons, including two seasons with the Yankees (1996-97) and Angels (2002)...his father won the World Series with the Yankees in 1996 after going 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA (11IP, 1ER) in seven postseason games that year...Graduated from Loretto High School in Loretto, Tenn...was named the Gatorade Tennessee Baseball High School Player of the Year in 2018, going 10-0 with a 0.09 ERA and 148 strikeouts in 76 innings...Had committed to Vanderbilt University before signing with San Diego...Won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2017 U-18 World Cup in Canada, tossing two scoreless outings.

Went 5-6 with a 3.63 ERA (35 ER/86.2 IP), 24 walks and 80 strikeouts in 16 starts with Miami, holding opponents to a career-best .236 AVG (78-for-331)...Made his third career Opening Day roster...In his season debut on March 30 vs. PIT, suffered the loss and allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks, one hit batter and five strikeouts over four innings pitched...Recorded first career double-digit strikeout game on April 16 vs. SF, with 10 strikeouts over six innings. Exited the game with a left-hand cramp, but made his next turn in the rotation...Went 1-2 with a 1.91 ERA (7 ER/33.0 IP) in five starts during the month of May, walking five batters against 27 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .165 AVG (19-for-115). His 0.73 WHIP in the month set a Marlins record in May (min. 25.0 IP), surpassing the previous mark of 0.90 by RHP Sandy Alcantara in 2022...Set a career high in innings pitched with eight scoreless on May 14 at DET, leading the Marlins to their first shutout victory of the season, 1-0. POSTSEASON: Made his ML debut in Game 1 of the NLDS vs. LAD on Oct. 6...did not allow a hit across 1.1 scoreless IP (2 BB, SO)...Was the 3rd ML player to debut in the 2020 Postseason (MIN Alex Kirilloff on Sept. 30 and TB Shane McClanahan on Oct. 5) and the 2nd pitcher in MLB history to debut in the Postseason (McClanahan).

Made 22 starts for Fort Wayne in '19, striking out 22.8% of opposing batters while walking just 4.6%, en route to a 3.84 ERA and 3.17 FIP....Allowed 2 earned runs-or-fewer in each of his 1st 7 starts, posting a 1.78 ERA (6 ER, 30.1 IP) from April 4-May 26...His ERA never got above 3.84, the mark he finished the campaign at after 5 straight starts of 3 earned runs-orfewer to close out the season.
