April 29th, 2017

BOSTON -- If you thought 's towering shot on Friday night was going to be the most impressive home run at Fenway Park this weekend, had other ideas.
On Saturday, in the bottom of the third inning of the Cubs' 7-4 victory, Ramirez unloaded for a solo rocket to left against that went over everything. With a projected distance of 469 feet, it was the longest homer at Fenway Park in the Statcast™ Era, which started in 2015.
The previous longest belonged to Ramirez, at 468 feet, on May 10, 2016.
Hanley celebrates homer with forehead kisses for young fans
"It was hit very well and very far," marveled Red Sox center fielder
For less than 24 hours, Bryant had the longest homer at Fenway by projected distance this season with his 449-foot rope against in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox.

Ramirez's second homer of the season had an exit velocity of 114 mph, tying (April 27, 2015) with the hardest home run by a Red Sox player in the Statcast™ Era.
All winning pitcher John Lackey could do was shake it off and go after the next batter, and the righty got Mitch Moreland to line out to end the inning.
"The wind blowing out at Fenway Park, it's not the best place to pitch," said Lackey.
The key for the Red Sox is that Ramirez could be heating up. After a modest start, he is 5-for-11 in his past three games.
Overall this season, Ramirez is slashing .250/.305/.368 with two homers and nine RBIs. Down the stretch of 2016, Ramirez was one of the most dangerous hitters in the American League.
"It's a heck of a swing," Red Sox manager John Farrell said of Ramirez's homer. "Obviously he hits the ball a long way. We're seeing more consistent, hard contact from him. He's getting himself in that good rhythm that was apparent for so much last year."
