Bucs invite top prospects Davis, Johnson, Priester to camp

PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates announced on Thursday that 17 players, a group that includes four of MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 Prospects, will be in Major League camp as non-roster invitees.

Headlining the list of non-roster invitees are infielder (No. 26 overall), catcher Henry Davis (No. 57 overall), right-handed pitcher (No. 60 overall) and infielder Nick Gonzales.

Along with those four, the Pirates have also invited right-handed pitchers , Jared Jones, , and ; infielders , Andres Alvarez, and ; outfielders and ; and catchers and Carter Bins. In total, there will be 65 players in Major League camp.

All 17 non-roster invitees are prospects except for Owings, who signed a Minor League contract with the club.

In addition to those names, catcher (No. 55 overall); right-handed pitchers Mike Burrows and Colin Selby; and infielders and will be in Major League camp, with all five being on the 40-man roster.

Last year, Bins, Bolton, Davis, Gonzales, Mlodzinski, Nicolas, Rodriguez and Triolo were non-roster invitees to Major League Spring Training as well.

Along with the names announced Thursday, right-handers and Nate Webb; left-handers , and ; catcher ; and outfielders Miguel Andújar and Chavez Young will be in Major League camp.
