Naylor makes Guardians game extra special for fan in hospice care

CLEVELAND -- It was the coldest game this late in the season since 2018, but that didn’t prevent from warming everyone’s hearts.

A local fan reached out to the Guardians about her mother, Carolyn, who is currently in hospice. Carolyn is a big fan of the team and an even bigger fan of Naylor’s. She wanted to make one more trip to Progressive Field to watch her team in person. When Naylor got wind of it, he made sure to make her last trip as special as possible.

The plan was for Carolyn to go down on the field pregame and watch batting practice, but those were the only details she was aware of. She was sitting there with her family when Naylor came up the home dugout steps with flowers and a bat in his hands to give her. Even though she was bundled up in a coat and hat, Naylor knew how cold it was outside and brought his own starter jacket to place over her to make sure she was warm.

After interacting with her and her family, Naylor got down on a knee and posed for a photo with all of them as a keepsake -- something that Carolyn’s daughter will be able to cherish for a lifetime.
