April 1947: Jackie Robinson takes first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field, thus breaking Baseball's color barrier.
July 1947: Larry Doby makes his debut for the Cleveland Indians, thus breaking the American League's color barrier.
April 1975: Frank Robinson debuts for the Cleveland Indians as the first African-American manager in Baseball history.
September 1976: Bill Lucas, Atlanta Braves VP of Player Personnel, assumes GM duties, thus becoming the first African-American General Manager in Baseball history.
1989: Former Major Leaguer and Scout John Young starts Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program in Los Angeles. Administration of the national program is assumed by MLB in 1991.
1990: Elaine Weddington-Steward becomes the first woman to be named Assistant General Manager in Baseball history when she is given the role by the Boston Red Sox.
1995: Kim Ng becomes the youngest person, and the first woman, to present a salary arbitration case in the Major Leagues as a member of the White Sox front office.
1998: The Diverse Business Partners program was created to be an economically-driven business initiative designed to cultivate new and existing partnerships with minority-, women-, LGBTQ- and veteran-owned businesses.
2002: Omar Minaya becomes the first Hispanic General Manager in Baseball history when he is named to the role by the Montreal Expos.
2006: The first MLB Youth Academy opens in Compton, California.
November 2020: Kim Ng is hired by the Miami Marlins as the first female and first East Asian-American general manager in Major League Baseball history.
