Dan Haren - Pitching Strategist

Dan Haren enters his fourth season with the D-backs as Pitching Strategist in his second stint with the club, having previously pitched for Arizona from 2008-10. In his role, Haren provides advance scouting reports and guidance to the club’s pitchers to maximize results on the mound.

A 3-time All-Star (2007, ’08, ’09), Haren twice finished in the Top 10 in Cy Young Award voting and finished his 13-year career with a 153-131 record, 3.75 ERA and 2,013 strikeouts while pitching for the Cardinals, A’s, D-backs, Angels, Nationals, Dodgers, Marlins and Cubs. During his tenure in Arizona, he went 37-26 with a 3.56 ERA and 570 strikeouts in 87 starts.

Haren attended Bishop Amat (Calif.) High School prior to playing at Pepperdine University, where he won 28 games in three seasons. As a junior in 2001, he earned All-America honors and was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year, serving as both a pitcher and designated hitter.

In 2011, Dan Haren Field was dedicated at the Miracle League Field in Scottsdale, the 30th field in the “Diamonds Back” Fielding Building program.

He and his wife, Jessica, have two sons, Rhett and Myles, and a daughter, Ella.
