May 13: RHP Corbin Martin claimed off waivers from Brewers, optioned to Triple-A Norfolk
Martin, 28, owns a 6.71 ERA in 17 career MLB outings (10 starts) for the Astros and D-backs from 2019-22. The right-hander was a second-round Draft pick of Houston in 2017, when Baltimore general manager Mike Elias was serving as the club's assistant GM.

This year, Martin has a 7.20 ERA in nine Triple-A appearances split between Reno (Arizona's affiliate) and Nashville (Milwaukee's affiliate). He was designated for assignment last Friday.

May 13: OF Kyle Stowers recalled from Triple-A Norfolk; OF Heston Kjerstad optioned to Triple-A; OF Austin Hays (left calf strain) reinstated from 10-day IL; OF Ryan McKenna designated for assignment
The Orioles shook up their outfield mix by swapping left-handed bats (Stowers for Kjerstad) and righty hitters (Hays for McKenna). Kjerstad was sent down to get more consistent playing time for Norfolk, while Stowers returned to the big leagues for the first time since May 15, 2023. More >

10-DAY/15-DAY INJURED LIST

RHP Grayson Rodriguez (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: Likely May
Rodriguez threw a 30-pitch bullpen session at Camden Yards on May 12. The 24-year-old right-hander has been mixing in all of his pitches during his side sessions, the first of which occurred on May 8 at Nationals Park. Rodriguez has been on the 15-day injured list since May 1 (retroactive to April 30).

On May 13, manager Brandon Hyde said Rodriguez was scheduled to throw another bullpen session in the near future. Hyde also said it was "possible" that Rodriguez could slot back into Baltimore's starting rotation during the weekend of May 17-19, when the O's will face the Mariners at Camden Yards. That means the righty may not need to go on a Minor League rehab assignment prior to his return.

The Orioles' staff will get a boost when Rodriguez returns, as he recorded a 3.71 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 34 innings over his first six starts of the season. (Last updated: May 13)

RHP Tyler Wells (right elbow inflammation)
Expected return: TBD
As of May 8, Wells was in Sarasota, Fla., as the 29-year-old right-hander moved his rehab to the Orioles' Ed Smith Stadium complex. He was initially continuing to rest his injured right elbow, according to manager Brandon Hyde. Wells played catch and underwent testing earlier this month.

Wells didn't bounce back from his April 6 start at Pittsburgh the way he had hoped and said he felt discomfort during his April 12 outing vs. Milwaukee. He was placed on the IL on April 16 for "precautionary reasons," per Hyde, who was optimistic at the time that Wells wouldn't miss an extended period of time. (Last updated: May 8)

60-DAY INJURED LIST

RHP (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: Spring Training 2025
Bautista, who had Tommy John surgery last October, underwent right elbow debridement and an ulnar nerve transposition on Feb. 9 in Dallas. Dr. Keith Meister performed both the Tommy John surgery and the additional procedures.

The secondary procedures (both common after Tommy John surgery) cleaned up scar tissue in Bautista’s right elbow and moved the nerve to free it up from compression. His reconstructed right UCL continues to heal well, and his recovery timeline won’t be affected. The Orioles still expect the All-Star closer -- who was placed on the 60-day injured list on Feb. 14 -- to begin throwing in April and to return for the start of the 2025 season.

Bautista was with the Orioles for Opening Day on March 28, but he left on March 30 for Sarasota, Fla., to continue his rehab at the team's complex. (Last updated: March 30)
