May 16: RHP Emmet Sheehan has season-ending elbow surgery
The 24-year-old has been on the 60-day injured list since late March after experiencing right forearm inflammation in his first bullpen session of the spring. He was expected to be out two months but underwent successful surgery on Wednesday that will end his 2024 season.

Sheehan pitched in 13 games for the Dodgers last season, going 4-1 with a 4.92 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings.

“It wasn’t a major setback, just from what I heard, [but] it wasn’t responding the way he had hoped, the way we had hoped,” manager Dave Roberts said. “I think at that point and time, with the information he was getting, getting the surgery was the right decision.”
