Players' Weekend returns with a twist (Aug. 16-18)

April 25th, 2024

Players’ Weekend is back in 2024 -- with a new look this time.

During the weekend of Aug. 16-18, MLB will celebrate players’ personalities, their interests and the charitable causes they support. The reimagined event aims to showcase players beyond their on-field performance, telling their stories and appealing to young baseball fans and casual followers of the sport.

The original Players’ Weekend -- held from 2017-19 -- featured specially designed uniforms with players’ nicknames on the back, but that won’t be the case this year. Still, players will be able to use custom bats and wear personalized cleats (as is customary throughout the regular season), and they will have specially designed New Era caps for 2024 Players’ Weekend.

Each of the three days will have a different emphasis that will be displayed through in-stadium game presentation, broadcast enhancements, social media content and more.

  • Fun (Friday, Aug. 16): Fun aspects of players’ personalities, friendships and off-field interests will be featured.
  • Causes (Saturday, Aug. 17): Focus will be on charitable and community initiatives that are important to players.
  • Appreciation (Sunday, Aug. 18): Players will celebrate the people who helped them on their path to the Major Leagues.

Players’ Weekend features multiple nationally televised matchups, including an Aug. 17 contest between the Dodgers and Cardinals on FOX and the 2024 Little League Classic on ESPN between the Yankees and Tigers on Aug. 18 in Williamsport, Pa.
